SMS Joins the EDS CCSP Team

McLean, VA | January 31,2004 -SMS Data Products Group, Inc., a leading enterprise network services firm headquartered in McLean, VA, announced today that it has joined the EDS Team and the Pentagon Renovation Office to provide architectural design and network engineering services under the Command Communications Survivability Program.

The Department of Defense awarded a two-year, $258 million contract to EDS to upgrade the Pentagon's information technology infrastructure under the Command Communications Survivability Program. The upgrade will encompass networks, data storage, voice and messaging systems. The CCSP upgrade is designed to provide for survivability, redundancy, recoverability, and security of the Pentagon IT infrastructure in order to ensure that the mission of the Department of Defense will not be impacted by any attack or disaster.

SMS joins EDS and more than 14 other subcontractors and partners that are involved on the project, including Verizon Federal Inc., Northrop Grumman Information Technology, Raytheon Co. and Titan Corp.

SMS played an important role in reconfiguring and expanding the Pentagon's network infrastructure to relocate the Pentagon workers that were displaced by the damage caused by the attack, and the CCSP effort is the correct approach to ensure that any further attacks or disasters do not disrupt the ability of the Department of Defense to carry out their mission, " added Mr. Laranjeira.
