BENEFITS...

SMS Data Products Group, Inc. is pleased to provide the following comprehensive benefits program to its full-time employees:

Health and Dental

Beginning on the first day of employment, group medical and dental insurance is available to all full-time SMS employees. Medical insurance is a POS plan provided by United Healthcare and the dental insurance is a PPO plan offered through MetLife.

Benefits of the medical plan include a prescription drug plan, preventive care for specified routine physicals, well baby care and more. Doctor visit copays are $25 per visit and prescription copays are on a three tier scale $10 Generic, $20 Name Brand and $40 Non- Formulary.

Employees may select additional family (dependent, spouse) coverage as an option.

  • Employee Only Coverage - $85/month (pre-taxed)
  • Employee/Spouse Coverage - $176/month (pre-taxed)
  • Employee/Child(ren) Coverage - $176/month (pre-taxed)
  • Family Coverage - $258/month (pre-taxed)

Our dental plan offers routine preventive services such as oral exams twice a year, prophylaxis and X-rays paid at 100% with no deductible. Additional basic services such as Filings, Root Canal, etc. are paid at $90 after deductible and major services, such as crowns and implants are covered at 60% after deductible. Pre-existing illness limitations are specified in the plan.

Employees may select additional family (dependent, spouse) coverage as an option.

  • Family Coverage - $30/month (pre-taxed)

Life Insurance

SMS provides, at no cost to the employee, a life insurance policy with MetLife equal to the employee’s annual earnings to a maximum of $300,000. All full-time employees receive a minimum of $100,000 in life insurance. Optional supplemental life insurance is also available at a low cost for up to an additional $750,000, or 5x employee’s salary for employee insurance. Life insurance for your dependant(s) is also available at the same low cost.

401(k) Plan

All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) savings plan, with semi-monthly enrollment opportunities.

On your behalf, SMS will contribute to your 401(k) account a matching contribution of $0.50 for each $1.00 of your deferral, up to 4% of eligible compensation. The maximum compensation eligible for the matching calculation is $150,000. The employer match is subject to a three year vesting schedule.

The plan offers a choice of seventeen mutual fund investment options. These funds are reviewed at least annually to ensure each fund meets the plan’s investment objectives.

Short Term Disability

Short-term disability, which provides income during periods of disability, is available to each employee on a graduated scale depending on length of service to a maximum of six months. Depending on length of service with SMS, you will receive short-term disability benefits as great as 100% of your salary, down to a minimum of 40% of your salary.

Long Term Disability

A long-term disability policy is provided at no cost to the employee. The policy is through MetLife and provides 60% of an employee’s basic monthly salary to a maximum of $10,000 per month during extended illnesses of more than six months.

Education

SMS reimburses employees of tuition charges to a maximum of $3,000 per year for approved courses taken at accredited colleges and universities. The reimbursement scale is based upon the grade received in the class (A=100%, B=85%, C=70%).

SMS encourages employees to stay on top of the latest technical advances; therefore SMS also reimburses employees for certification study material and exams, as well as other various training classes.

Holidays

SMS observes nine holidays a year. All full-time employees receive a full days pay for each of these holidays.

Personal Leave

SMS has a flexible personal leave policy which provides paid leave for absences due to vacation or illness. Full-time employees accrue paid personal leave at a rate of 16 days per year. Employees accrue an additional week of personal leave after six years of employment with SMS. Personal leave may be taken as soon as it is accrued by the employee.

Direct Deposit Payroll

Employees may choose to have their paychecks deposited in a checking or savings account with the financial institution of their choice.

Cell Phone Program – SMS reimburses all qualified Engineers $50 per month for cell phone expenses

Paid Parking – SMS reimburses all employees parking charges incurred at their job site

Tickets to Washington Nationals Home Games – Four Nationals Tickets, as well as a parking pass are available for SMS employees to enjoy

Social Events – Semi-Formal Holiday Party, Summer Happy Hours, Team Appreciation Luncheons, etc.
