SMS Achieves SEI CMMI Level 3 Certification . . .

McLean, VA | June 30, 2009 -- SMS Data Products Group, Inc., (SMS) a leading enterprise network services firm with over 30 years of experience in the IT industry, announced today that the company has been appraised as fully compliant at Maturity Level 3 with Carnegie Mellon's Software Engineering Institute's (SEI)Capability Maturity Model Integration © for Development (CMMI ©) Version1.2.

CMMI is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes. CMMI helps integrate traditionally separate organizational functions, set process improvement goals and priorities, provide guidance for quality processes, and provides a point of reference for appraising current processes.

The CMMI rating was earned through a Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) appraisal led by an SEI-authorized lead evaluator from Cyber Solutions, Inc. The appraisal involved an extensive review of SMS' systems engineering, project management, and organizational processes. The CMMI Level 3 rating demonstrates that SMS consistently uses best practices in its engineering projects and organizational processes, enhancing the ability to design and build systems better, faster and with greater cost-effectiveness.
