DATA CENTER...

Engineering a Data Center is a very complex undertaking, involving a wide variety of specializations from construction, to power and HVAC systems, to cabling infrastructures, data networking, to operating systems and applications. SMS synergizes a variety of our IT specializations expertise to address our customers specific concerns within their Data Centers. Our Data Center team’s typically consist of IT expertise in Passive Infrastructures (structured cable and facility layout design), Active Architectures (IP and Fiber Channel internetworking) and Systems and Storage (Applications, Storage and Replication) in order to address any design and implementation concerns.

SMS has developed a best practice Data Center Facility Framework that provides Data Center Layouts with the ability to then derive their associated environmental specifications. The framework provides a repeatable design process that yields a modular and flexible Data Center Facility Layout and identifies the facility environment specifications (Space, Power, HVAC) associated with the layout.SMS works closely with our customers to understand the operational concept desired by their IT enterprise requirements. Then, based on that operational concept, a complete detailed design and architecture of the systems, equipment and applications should be accomplished. All assumptions, decisions, requirements, and technical positions that will impact the Data Center framework are provided so that our customers fully understand the process used, the trade-offs and the decision points used in the development of the environmental specifications. The importance of the numerical specification data, especially the facility power and HVAC, cannot be understated, as a Data Center’s are very critical and sometimes expensive facility.
