Client Success Stories - FEMA

SMS Project Highlight

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
FEMA Headquarters Cable Plant Project
Washington, D.C.

FEMA had a requirement to upgrade the Cable Infrastructure for their Main HQ located in Washington DC. Part of this upgrade required two new technology rooms to house the network and telephone equipment, racks, patch panels, horizontal and backbone copper and fiber cabling.  This infrastructure upgrade covered the entire eight floor building with 2400 total users and ~40,000 Sq. Feet per floor and a complete VOIP upgrade.

SMS was award the contract in 2012 and went straight to work designing a state of the art redundant infrastructure, new main computer center, vertical riser, and two floor distribution rooms per floor. SMS new Backbone system design included Voice, Data, Classified Backbone transport, and multiple SCIF and Secure Access Program (SAP) environments. SMS worked closely with the Government client and the building management company to meet all requirements. Once the designs were Government approved, the SMS Installation teams built the new computer facility, floor equipment rooms, cable, pathways, and the data, application and VOIP platforms in accordance with the design documents maintaining 100% customer satisfaction throughout the project.
