McLean, VA | May 16, 2016 – SMS, a leading IT services provider and Systems Integration firm with 40 years of experience providing IT solutions to the Federal Government, announced today that it has been appraised at level 3 of the CMMI Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) for Services V1.3. The appraisal was performed independently by Cyber Solutions, Inc. This achievement marks SMS’s most recent milestone in enhancing its quality processes and customer-focused service delivery.

An appraisal at Maturity Level 3 indicates that SMS is performing at a “defined” level. At this level processes are well characterized and understood, and are described in standards, procedures, tools, and methods. In addition, the organization’s set of standard processes, which is the basis for Maturity Level 3, is established and continues to improve over time.

SMS continues to invest in its Quality Management System (QMS), which is also ISO 9001:2008 certified and CMMI Level 3 DEV assessed. “We are very proud of this achievement and we will continue to invest in quality and process improvement. Our next focus is to achieve ISO 20000, which we expect to attain in the July 2016 timeframe”, said Juan Hernandez, President at SMS. “This was a team effort and I am very proud to be part of this great organization,” added Hernandez.
