McLean, VA | January 27, 2011 – SMS, a leading IT services provider and systems integration firm with nearly 40 years of experience providing IT solutions to the Federal Government, announced today the successful renewal of its certificate of registration for the International Quality Standards of ISO 9001:2008 for another three years.

The ISO 9001:2008 standard is the most widely recognized quality management system framework in the world. The standard specifies requirements for the organization’s quality management systems and focuses on SMS’s ability to meet customer requirements and adaptability to continuously improve.

The certification scope covers virtually all areas of the company’s operations, including sales, marketing, design, development, procurement, build, delivery, engineering, installation, repair, service, removal, disposal, training and support of hardware, software, and services for telecommunications equipment and solutions.

The renewal follows an exhaustive audit by SAI Global Inc., the independent auditor used by SMS for its ISO 9001:2008 certifications. The audit was conducted in late December and covered all of SMS’s operating facilities. To obtain a recertification, SMS must show continued conformity and effectiveness of their quality management system as a whole as well as the continued relevance and applicability of their management system for the scope of certification.
