The Virginia Best Workplaces list identifies private, public, nonprofit and government agencies with the highest ratings from their employees and through a third party evaluation criteria.

SMS was ranked 22nd in the “large company” category in the statewide survey designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Virginia. The survey focused on the companies benefiting the state’s economy, workforce and businesses and was made up of 100 other companies.

The companies rankings were announced at the 2018 Best Places to Work gala on Thursday, February 1st in Charlottesville, Virginia. The survey includes companies from across the state that participated in the two-part survey process which evaluated workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. A second part of the survey consisted of an employee poll to measure the worker experience and satisfaction. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Virginia and also analyzed the data to determine the final ranking.
