2021 Awards

Anna Anderson – Business Development Executive of the Year
Anna has the unique ability to synthesize her knowledge of government initiatives with customer and partner relationships, combined with a strong understanding of SMS operations and finance. She successfully led the capture strategy for several large Army Program Executive Office initiatives, including our strategic contract supporting the Army’s Enterprise Cloud initiatives. Anna has won this award for two straight years and three of the past four!

Thomas Ferguson – Service Delivery Manager of the Year
In August of 2021, Thomas was asked on short notice by SMS leadership to jump into the role of acting Program Manager for a critical Air Force task order after successfully supporting the contract as Deputy PM.  Thomas’ experience, programmatic knowledge, incredible interpersonal skills, and positive can-do attitude turned a challenge into a huge benefit for his team and our customer, and he soon stepped into the full Program Manager role. Thomas’ efforts and leadership resulted in the team being recognized for exceptional performance.

John Madore – Engineer of the Year
SMS asked John to take on a technical leadership role in the middle of a complex and challenging program to stand up an Enterprise Data Center for our DoD customer. Within two weeks, John had learned the designed solution and led a newly created SMS technical team through the first series of migrations. John and the technical team completed testing and acceptance for the system, earning well-deserved customer confidence for SMS. On this program John demonstrated his unique ability to first understand the technical and business side of customer and company challenges, and then create and execute on a plan as both a leader and team member.

Carmen Reeder – “Linh Pham” Team Player of the Year
In its inaugural year, the Team Player award recognizes the person who best exemplifies the qualities of long term ‘SMSer’ Linh Pham who retired in 2021 after 33 years at SMS. Linh was the consummate teammate; everyone wanted to work with Linh because he always took action and made his teammates better. Carmen continuously demonstrated that work ethic and attitude throughout 2021. While serving as Program Manager for a large DoD Contract, she took on the Mid-Atlantic Regional Operations Manager role, supporting all contracts in the region. In addition, to fill resource gaps, she also provided Regional Director support for our Central and West Regions, including training others to perform the role. Like Linh, Carmen focused on taking action to meet customer needs and making her teammates better.

Josh Wagner – Administrative Excellence
Josh excels as our Director of Talent Acquisition and is an integral part of SMS.  Whether working with Business Development on incumbent capture or filling the many requisitions that open as fast as he and his team can close them, Josh is always up for the challenge. From candidates to Hiring Managers, Josh receives numerous compliments and kudos on his hard work, knowledge, and dedication.  He is an excellent leader and his professionalism and drive consistently carry through to his entire team!
