Each month via SPOTLIGHT, our employee engagement platform, SMS President Matt Rosecan recognizes employees who demonstrate our values of collaboration, commitment, and creativity. Congratulations to the first quarter 2026 President’s Award recipients, Americo (Rico) Galdeano, Spencer Preston, and Marissa Rimel!
SMS is pleased to recognize Americo (Rico) Galdeano with January’s President’s Award for Rico’s adaptability and willingness to act under preasure made him a valuable member of not only the CSS2 team, but SMS as a whole. Rico has supported the Cyber Support Services 2 (CSS2) program since joining SMS in 2020 as a Systems Engineer. When the program scope shifted near the end of 2025, Rico quickly adapted and became a key contributor on the CSS Illumio team, supporting the Air Force Microsegmentation Program and helping ensure robust enterprise network security. Rico’s strengths have been a great fit for a team known for consistent execution, and he has quickly transitioned into this new role and remained a dependable, valuable contributor to SMS and the Air Force. Rico’s insights have helped the team build confidence in—and better understanding of—the program’s progress.
SMS is excited to recognize Spencer Preston with February’s President’s Award for demonstrating a mission-first work ethic for both the customer and SMS. Spencer is one of our Cyber Operator SMEs at Lackland AFB, TX. He recently returned from a CPT TDY where he served as the host lead, providing critical SME knowledge to enable hunt operations while overseeing three host analysts. His performance earned a customer feedback rating of “Very Satisfied”—the highest rating a contractor can receive. The customer noted that Spencer was directly involved in agent deployment plans, implementation, mission partner engagement, and all host tasks. In their words, “Mr. Preston expertly contributed to mission planning by providing technical experience and expertise” and acted as an “outstanding leader and provided insight for host team operations,” keeping the “team on-task and professionally guided individuals during the duration of the mission.”
March’s President’s Award proudly recognizes Marissa Rimel for setting a standard of excellecce recgonized both by SMS and our customer. Her work during the recent annual unit security inspection was nothing short of outstanding. Not only did her areas shine—as they always do—but she went above and beyond her normal duties to assist the customer in ways that made them look good. That willingness to step outside the lines of her own scope, anticipate the customer’s needs, and lift the entire team is exactly the kind of ownership and dedication we strive for across SMS. Marissa’s commitment, professionalism, and customer-first mindset reflect the very best of who we are.
Thank you, Rico, Spenser and Marissa for your remarkable diligence and dedication to our customers’ mission and to SMS’ success!
